My friend had a question... And I guess I'll ask it...

Whats the with the Jam Space? I didn't pay much attention to it last year and I have no clue how it works. But he's been doing some pretty cool music that is video game stuff that he wants to perform. And he also wanted to know, if he did do the Jam Space, is there many people who pay attention to it? Lol

My understanding of Jamspace

My understanding of Jamspace from last year is that they brought in a number of music instruments for attendee use: keyboard, guitars, drums, etc. There are a few events held there that might be pre-scheduled for a specific block of time, but generally it is ad hoc and you just show up and ask to play.

As to people paying attention to it? Not huge crowds, but I did see people besides the room staffers chilling in there occasionally.

Dom(?) or another staffer: correct me if this is wrong

Fairly accurate

Zeiram is right, except I think we packed JamSpace at least a handful of times. You shouldn't expect hundreds of people in there -- we can't fit that many people in there anyway -- but I expect it to be very busy this year, between people like The Fat Man and Richard Jacques performing in there. I believe OC ReMix is also planning a room takeover at some point and wacky hijinks will ensue.

Yeah...

Well I figured it wouldn't pack out but still.

His stuff is very good, in my opinion, so I'd love to see what other people's opinions are (without the use of MySpace that is...).

JAMSpace!

Hey guys! My name is Drew. Dom and I run JAMSpace, and you'll probably see him up here at some point.

JAMSpace is a room dedicated to jamming out to video game music. It's similar to an Open Mic event. Anybody and Everybody is welcome to come and jam with one another.

There will be a collection of instruments available for public use, provided by us. In addition, anybody is welcome - and encouraged - to bring in their own gear. There is a check-in system for gear, and a storage area. Guests have the option of checking in gear for private or public use, and our staffers will keep diligent watch over the storage area. You're also welcome to check it in while you're there, and check it out to store elsewhere.

We will have certain times blocked out for specific events, with sign-up sheets. The rest of the time will be spent cycling through whoever wants to get up and play. It's a blast!

We aim to be open 24/7, closing only for specific MAGFest events (such as the Main Concerts).

The room was completely packed a few times, and there were frequently 10-15 people chilling and jamming.

By all means, tell your friend to come and jam! If he's looking for an opportunity to perform on his own, he'll be able to sign-up for one of those events. Specifics on the events will be released closer to MAGFest.

Hope that helps answer your question!
