What do you want

Taking any and all suggestions for tournaments.

I know Halo, Gears of War, Street Fighter, and Rockband.

What else would you like to show your dominance in?

Any game, any system. Just let me know.

Give me a couple of suggestions, and don't throw out some stupid games like Bible Adventures or something. We can't do tournaments with games like that.

Well..

I was going to say "Super Noah's Ark 3D" but oh well.

Haha.

Well other than the obvious mainstream games, I'm not sure. Call of Duty 4 though, duh. Err, rather, Call of Duty 4 not set on hardcore...

And Gears 2 will be out then, heh.

Excite Truck

Probably one of the most under-appreciated games on the Wii. Excite Truck game is so ridiculously fun. Not sure how exactly you would do it since the multiplayer kind of sucks. Maybe do it one person at a time on multiple consoles and sere who gets the most stars?

We tried this one at MAGFest 5 and it was a reasonable hit. Several of us staffers dig ExciteTruck so this could make a re-entry with enough interest.

How about some kind of ace

How about some kind of ace combat tournament? You can't do any kind of multiplayer without internet in ace combat 6 for the 360, but ace combat zero and 4 for the ps2 have local multiplayer.

Suggestions

1990 NWC or DK competition cart! Repros or emu of course.

Oldschool?
Most Atari, Coleco, and Activision games that are 2 player.

Sports?
Tecmo Football or Blades of Steel.

Maybe a random obscure fighter competition could be held. Say the game isn't announced until day 1 and is setup in the game room so you have til Saturday to practice. Maybe list several possibilities online weeks before hand.

A few biggies I think you

A few biggies I think you should consider including...

Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Soul Caliber 4, Unreal Tournament 3, Call of Duty 4.

There's also the fun of timed run tourneys on games like Super Mario Bros or Super Mario World, though that's less basic Tournament style.

Also, though I don't know if you guys have the ability to set it up, you could try setting up a private WoW server to do a WoW arena tourney. Setup some pre-made level 70 characters with full Season 4 gear and go to town :p

Greatest 2d Fighters

Make sure that you add Marvel versus Capcom 2 and Capcom versus Snk2. These games would be perfect for a tournament. Plus they are the best 2d brawlers of all time.

how about on a cabinet?

It looks like we have one fully unlocked (lv99) MvC2 board and we have another one (lv34?) that needs to be unlocked or played a whole hell of a lot. Any arcade experts know what needs to happen here? We might be able to have a tournament on real arcade machines, if so.

ok.....

ok, so i have been neglecting the boards cause games seem to be getting in the way. anyways, so what you guys are asking is for almost a tourny for every game. lets not forget i need sleep at some point during the con. so lets do CoD4, GoW2, Halo3, Rockband2, Street fighter (any), soul calibur 4, do some MvC2, excite truck, wii sports, smash bros (pick one, some like brawl over melee and the other way), melty blood (if we got a copy, hint hint), any KoF, and maybe a ddr or beatmania game.

sound good?

and if you wanna help run any of these, let me know. might need some help with the fighters to get all these done in time.

by the way, i dont do the computer games. talk to the lan guys about those. i just do console.

Well.....

Considering it is actually AWESOME and has a lot of songs that differ from rockband 1/2.... we can just do a Battle of the Bands. Since they both use the same instruments and people might want songs from each.

I still am annoyed by the "open strum" crap on the bass though. hard as hell to see that damned purple line.

Well, on the Sega Saturn note I think it'd be pretty cool to see Fighting Vipers.
